I see that what people choose to write up about their clan vary greatly, as we currently do not use any forms or similar when submitting a clan (this have been investigated, and is currently put on hold). So I thought I would create some general advice about how your submission should look like.

1. Provide a general description of your clan, e.g. if you are mainly a competitive (GameBattles etc) or a social clan.

2. Include what games the clan supports. This is really important, just adding "We are looking for new members, message me" will rarely get any hits.

3. Provide a few lines about what type of members you are looking for (hardcore gamers, people who like a laugh etc). This will help people figure out what type of clan you represent.

4. Requirements, if any. If you have any special requirements, like minimum age, microphone, KDR, playtime, rank etc, include this, so people don't get denied simply because they do not meet the requirements.

5. I see most clans have their own website, so please include a link to that as well. If you don't have one yet, there are tons of hosts that offers free forum hosting etc. If you want a more complete system, try finding someone that have some sort of portal mod install on their forum (see end of post for some tips on free hosts).

6. The blog is not meant for clan recruitment, at least not on this stage. Currently this is a bit undefined, and we are not sure which direction we want to take it, if you have any suggestions, let us know :)

The general idea is that you provide as much information as possible about your clan, which helps out people looking for a clan, and also helps us out, as it makes this site that much more useful. You can also add some styling on your post, like headlines etc.

General tips

1. Spelling might not be important for you, but some people (like me) prefer proper spelling. You do not have to be the king of grammar, and some errors are accepted. But using leet speak, abbreviations for 3 letter words etc will put some people off your post. Also, if you are using Firefox, you can install a dictionary (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3) that automagically checks your post for typos.

2. Be polite, specific and do not rant. Joking is of course allowed.

3. Use the Preview Post BEFORE posting. This is generally a good idea, as it gives you a chance to look over your post before you submit it, and correct as needed.

Free forum hosting tips*
1. ProBoards (http://proboards.com/) - Use a custom ASP.NET forum solution. Quite a few clans are using this service, but I have always found the forum software a bit sub par when compared to other solutions like phpBB3, vBulletin, IPB, SMF etc.

2. phpBB3now (http://www.phpbb3now.com/) - Ad free phpBB3 forums. Have not tried out the service my self, but they make quite the promises. Site seems dead though, so don't expect any major support from them.

3. Forumer (http://www.forumer.com/) - Offers phpBB3, phpBB2 and IPB forums, and even a portal system.

4. Free Forums (http://www.freeforums.org/) - Free forum host

There are tons more, these are just a few examples
